Texas Hold'em: The Turtle Wins the Race
As soon as a bunch of poker players gather around a poker table, the pressure starts to rise and the heat of the game comes out. All the blinds are placed and pocket hands are then dealt. All the players look at their cards and watch each other, thinking and guessing what those hands are holding and what the future of the game is. Every player is anxious and working hard to win, they all attempts to maintain self-control despite of the increasing excitement and pressure of the game.
Once the bets and the flops are revealed, some drops down their excitement while others remain lucky. Bets are still on the go that other players may pause for some time and think if they have already bet too much or even foolishly betting already. While some others think that they have bet too little or not betting at all. The pressure of betting and winning overpowers each player which can either make or break the whole game for them.
Most players does not often realize that winning in a Texas Hold'em game isn't just about guts and dealing with the pressure. It is not just recognizing what the opponents tell you. More over, it is not just all about making big bets and bluffing. Patience, prudence and restrains identifies winning in a Texas Hold'em game. This is basically the reality especially for online poker. Pros have said a lot of times already that a tight and good strategy is required in winning at Texas Hold'em. However, most peolple get carried away with their emotions which can ultimately cause a loss. Only few players aplly this kind of strategy to their whole poker career.
Most of the time, players may encounter bad cards for weeks or even months. A good players known how to ride the bad cards out. Once you bet on the bad cards, it will cause you nothing but losing more money and it gets you frustrated as well. It is not easy to win in poker and it take time before you can taste victory in a poker game. There is no need to rush as what expert poker players would say. A good player knows very well that poker game has highs and lows and it is always a must to play it in a consistent and steady manner.
Instead of counting all your success by means of all your wins or loses, measure it by mens of the frequency of your wins and loses in a month. If you know you played a good game, you should expect a good profit. If on the other hand you didn't have much profit, then you might want to ask yourself how well did you do in your previous plays.
Be like the turtle in the famous bedtime story for kids. You know, although slow and steady, the turtle still won the race over the rabbit.
